Longwave infrared (LWIR) is usually demarcated to fall between 8.0 – 14.0 µm wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum. It is a frequently utilized infrared technology for many drone applications, such as: Farm and crop analysis and solar field scans. The LWIR wavelengths can detect temperatures that radiate off the plants and the crop field. Thus LWIR wavelength cameras can detect and record the radiated temperatures. The information gained can be used to determine early signs of disease or distress to crops and soil in the field.
